Normally this time of year people start thinking about taking a vacation. Many people choose to look in to Disney vacations as that is one of the most popular vacation destination. But I wonder how many people are actually going on vacation this year, with the economy and all many people just don't have the extra money. Some people are cashing in their vacation times and using the money instead to pay bills. Are you taking a vacation this year or are you cashing in your time and taking the money to do other things?

criminal justice degree

When I was younger I wanted to be a lawyer or something in law enforcement. My dream was to get a criminal justice degree maybe become a forensic scientist. I have always loved that field and maybe that is why I am into the crime dramas on TV like the csi's, law and orders etc... I never did pursue that road, I guess life took me in another direction. Someone told me that is was never to late to pursue that route if I still wanted to and they sent me information on Northwestern College.

Northwestern College offers degrees in criminal justice. One of the great things about this school is that you can take the courses online and at your own schedule and pace. I saw that they were offering associate degrees, but I wonder if you have an associates already could you get a bachelors in criminal justice?

I was looking it over and there are many careers you can have after getting a degree take a look.

I am pretty sure there are many more careers, I was reading that this sector is expected to continue to rise and that there will be many jobs opened in this field. It maybe something to think about if you are thinking about changing careers or if you are in high school and you are thinking about what you want to be when you are done with schooling. As for me I am happy with the path I have chosen and will continue the way I have been.

Digital Frames

I have been thinking about buying a digital frame from some time now. I like the idea of having a frame that changes pictures and you can show off as much as your memory card will hold. But at the same time some of these frames can be a bit pricey.I guess I will wait and see if I come across a digital frame that is at a good price then I will snatch one up, who knows if the price is really good I may just buy multiples.

Have you ever had a bad cold or flu so bad that you can't eat? My house is full of germs its seems like everyone has some sort of bug, cold, stomach virus etc..... I am so ready to be done with all of this. 2 of my kids has some sort of stomach bug it was at the point that they didn't even want to eat, what ever the bug was, was bad enough to be its own appetite suppressant. They are both better now and have gone back to school. They still have a little cough here and there. I on the other hand caught a cold from my little one. He still has to learn to cover his mouth and not cough or sneeze in your face. So that is what I have been dealing with these last few days.

Now that the Olympics have been on they have moved all the shows or they are not even showing any shows. I don't mean to be a party pooper, but not everyone is into the Olympics. I just have not found any fun in watching it, to me its rather boring. I have tried a few times to sit and watch it, but I just can't, I wind up changing the channel. Is it just me? Are you into the Olympics? I mean it got so bad the other day with nothing on T.V that I was actually watching a program that was talking about the best weight loss pills. I just turned the T.V off and listened to music.

Your Dog As Security

If you are looking into different home security systems, the best security is your dog. Do you agree with this statement? Do you feel that mans best friend can be the best security you can have? Or do you feel that there is more to it than just having a dog? I am not sure what I think about that statement right now. I have been looking into getting an extended warranty for my minivan. I have seen a few commercials for a few companies, while I have been looking into these companies like mogi and the like I found goodsamesp.com. Freezing pipes

Have you ever had a problem with freezing pipes? I have a few times and it is really a pain. I found out that when you know the temperature is going to drop below freezing you can turn on your faucets over night and they will not freeze. You really don't need to turn on more then one in my opinion and you don't need to have it on full blast either, a little drip will work as well. Just as long as you keep the water running through the pipes.

I was watching this show on cable where the girl in the story kept getting pimples on her back. The girl thought that she was just going through an acne problem and began looking for body acne treatment creams. After a few months she noticed it was getting worse, so she went to the doctor. I just can't believe that can happen. I spoke with a friend of mine who was asking me for advice on hemorrhoid relief for her baby daughter. I was shocked to hear that, I had no idea a baby can get that. I guess maybe its because I never a knew a baby who has ever experienced that. But I told her to take her to the doctor to make sure, that is that and nothing else. You don't want to give unnecessary treatment and you don't want to be treating something one way and it winds up to be something else. Like I said I was so surprised about it that I looked it up and in fact babies can get it, but it is rare.

Wii Fit

My kids got the wii fit and the wii fit plus game and board for Christmas. I love it, you can really get a work out playing with it. I mean sometimes I am so sore when I am done playing that I feel like dropping. The wii has a lot of exercise games not and it will surely keep you fit. One thing they need to do is have an ellipticals game. Wouldn't that be so cool to have? Yes we need a game that would make you feel like you are using ellipticals. Many people think that all it takes to put out a fire is a fireman and that's all they do. But that it totally false it takes a lot more then just putting out fires and saving life's. Many firefighters go back to school to get a Bachelor of arts in fire service. Getting a Bachelor of arts in fire service allows a firefighter to learn how to be a leader and administrator, a person who can plan for risks that may happen during a call, be able to evaluate processes and outcomes, and also to handle staffing and labor issues. These are firefighters who want to climb up the ladder (no pun intended) in their departments and become lieutenants, captains etc..

If you are a firefighter and thought about going back to school now is the time. Or maybe you know someone who is firefighter you can pass along this information and let me know that they can get their Bachelor of arts in fire service and they can do it online at Lewis University. They are offering these services and more. You can speak with an advisor to see if this is something you can do. We need more firefighters who are capable of doing more then just putting out fires, maybe this should be a requirement? What do you think?

They have a window based software that allows businesses to print a check draft of their customers checks and deposit it in the bank the same day, they print it out.

The cost to do this is $99 the first year and $49 each year after that, you are allowed to use on up to 10 computers. You will also need special computer paper called secure paper or else the bank will not accept the check. According to the site all banks accept these types of checks. Take a break

This has been a long week for many people I know myself included. But the time is going so fast. I can't believe it that October is almost over and we are very close to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Come to mention it this year just flew, it was like just yesterday we were screaming Happy New Year and now we will be screaming that again in a matter of week. I had so many people tell me they were glad this week is over and hopefully they will have better week this week. It is like that for you? Was this week tough? Did you have a break down and want to send everybody to a not so nice place? Are we in a full moon phase, where everybody wants to act a full or get over on the next? It's not a full moon I checked, for all the people who had a hard time this week, I think its time that we all just sit back and take a break and for some who may smoke maybe you should take a Rocky Patel break laugh out loud. One thing is for sure don't let anyone ruin your week!

Difficult People

How do you deal with difficult people or if you are a business owner difficult clients? Someone I know was telling me about an incident they had with a client who refused to pay bill for work he had done for this client. This person did all the work for this client, bent over backwards for this client and when the person was done with the work, the client gave him a hard time about the price. To make a long story short this client knew that if they went the route they did they would be charged and they refused. So now they got away with it, got work for free. This person was so mad when the client did this to him that it took all his strength to keep his mouth clamped shut and not go off on the client for doing this to him. He had to take some industrial handles and use them like push up bars because he had to blow off so much steam. People like this who try and get away with stuff will only get what's coming to them in the end. I told him he is going to have to chuck up like a loss and know that this client will have to answer to a higher power for trying to get away with having work done for them for free. They are the one who has to go to bed at night with a guilty conscious. So if you ever have a problem with a difficult client or person know they have to answer to a higher power, and although you may lose money try not to let it get to you. Learn from your mistakes and don't let it happen to you again.

Why is it so hard to find affordable health insurance? It is so sad to know that there are millions of adults and especially children with out health insurance. What can we do to make sure that everyone gets the health care that they deserve. Many people complain that government is putting its 2 cents in this debate, but if they didn't people would claim about that. We need to come together to come up with a solution to this very big problem. Don't get me wrong there are a few things I don't agree with, with this health care issue, but we really need to solve this problem. In the long run we will be paying for the uninsured one way or another, so why not all of these people insured with an affordable plan that will benefit everyone!

I was at the dollar store today doing some shopping and I spotted some vitamins on the shelf. The vitamins got my attention as I could not believe they had vitamins in the dollar store. Anyway as I continued to look and see what other stuff they had on the shelf I spotted appetite suppressants. I just could not believe it, I mean can find all sorts of stuff at the dollar store. Many people asked me what type of exercise equipment do I recommend or use, and at first I would say that I didn't use any. But now that I think about I do use the wii and for me that is exercise in itself. They also have the wii fit, which I have not tried yet but would love to. I was at a website called stands and mounts they sell all kinds of stands and mounts for TVs. I was looking to see what is available for flat screen TVs. Sometimes when you go to these big box stores they only have a limited amount of stuff on display or on hand. And I wanted to see if I can find something better. My sister is in the process of redoing her kitchen and she has a beautiful stove that I would not mind having. It made me think about what type of things I would like to have in my own kitchen. And one of those things is the faucet on the right, while I was looking online I saw that there was a Price Pfister one. The cheapest one I saw was running for about $70, but I really didn't like it. Boy it is so sad that he died it still is like a shock to me. My mom had called me to ask me if I had heard about Michael Jackson, and when I told her that I hadn't, she replied you didn't hear that he died. I was like Michael Jackson died! I was so loud that my husband woke up from his nap and said to me "did you just say Michael Jackson died? He put it on CNN and we began to hear all about it.

Although he became a strange person he was still a wonderful musician that had so many wonderful songs, he just banged hit after hit. It seemed like every radio station was playing his sons. The Fuse had showed his videos all day the other day, I really enjoyed watching them and remembering where I was when that song or video came out.

Yesterday I was out on the porch listening to his tunes when I decided to go in for the night. I tried closing the umbrella I was using for shade but I had such a hard time closing it, I could probably used some industrial hand wheels to close the thing. Anyway as I finally got it closed, the radio was playing one of Michael Jackson songs I can't remember the name but it brought chills down my spine for some reason. I thought that was so strange, I guess he will be dancing and singing with God!

Did you hear that Yahoo is doing away with their 360 side of Yahoo. Anyone who uses this has till July 12Th to move their profile, blogs etc.... They will take it down on the 13Th of July. I read that they are taking it down to focus on the new profile pages they are setting up for people, but I received an email the other day telling me that they were closing to down. I was just reading some blogs on their and someone was writing about Stimerex ES, I have also seen some profiles and blogs on their that are certainly not family friendly. Hopfully they will control the content that some people have and make sure that is not viewable by kids. Like I said I have seen some stuff on the old 36o, the only problem is that they are allowing people to take their old stuff and move it to their new profiles. I think Yahoo should have a better way to control this. What do you think?

I love Satellite Music

One of the things I do everyday is listen to music, if I am not watching the videos on the Fuse channel then I have it on one of my favorite satellite music channels. I love it there are so many to choose from, but I maybe listen to about 5 of those stations. And depending on what mood I am in determines what station and the type of music I want to listen to. I have been thinking about looking into those satellite radios for my car, but I am not sure if I want to go that route.

My husband and I have discussed it a few times, I know you get more choices with them, but I also understand that after you buy the radio, you still have to subscribe to it. But it would be a good thing to have when your traveling in between states you wouldn't have to worry about losing stations. Do any of you have this? Do you like it? What is your favorite station?

High Blood Pressure

I went to my doctor the other and day and she told me my blood pressure was still a little high from the last time she saw me. I know there are many factors why my blood pressure is high every time I see her. Anyway she wanted to put me on some meds and she gave me a prescription. I am one who does not like to take to much medication, because so many of them has so many side affects. One of those side effects is that it can be an appetite suppressant, it can also make you dizzy, drowsy etc.....

So for now I have decided to continue to watch my blood pressure and try to improve it the natural way and if that does not work then I will try and take the medication. I am going to relieve my stress, not let things bother me, not get upset and so on. I will also watch my salt intake. But I am going to try my best and improve myself for good health and not to have to depend on medication.

I am taking a break for an hour or so, I have been working on a clients website and I am waiting for some feedback so in the mean time, I decided to chill out. I have been listening to some music that I have on my computer I love to listen to tunes while I work. When you have 4 kids you won't believe how much luggage you can have if you go on vacation. So to simplify my life and to make sure there is room in my van for us and the luggage I made a one bag rule. Each person is allowed to take 1 piece of luggage only. Now that I have this rule you won't believe how much of unnecessary items were left behind. My kids would of taken half of their rooms, there is no need for 6 pairs of shoes or 12 t-shirts. If you are going away for a week and the weather is warm you can get away with a few pairs of shorts and t-shirts. All you have to do is interchange your clothing, to make it last for the week. Also make sure that the place you stay has a washer and dryer or make sure to stay not to far from laundromat.

I don't think much is going to be done to him. He says I am sorry a week later and I am sorry, but is apology sounded like it was scripted. If it were anybody else they would have been put under the jail.

Then we have Michael Phelps, I just knew he was going to get away with it. Give me a break what a waste of air time. He says he is sorry, says he going to talk about how drugs are wrong and that is that. If it were anybody else they would have been put under the jail.

Now let's talk about Alex Rodriguez who we know will go on to play baseball and call it a day. He lied about taking steroids comes on T.V and cries I am sorry and everything will be all good in his life, because nothing is going to happen.

Then we have this Senator Roland Burris from Illinois come on, the minute I saw him on T.V I said he was up to no good! My husband always says that the eyes don't lie and you can just see it in his eyes. Now all of this dirt is coming out on him, I just knew it.

I mean I know that people are not perfect, none of us is perfect, but I just feel that some people get away with a lot while others can just look cross eyed and be thrown under the jail. The perfect example is that guy who did the ponzi scheme and stole billions of dollars and he is still free living in his million dollar mansion, while people are left to suffer what he did. How can anyone say their is justice in this world!

I had to laugh at that, but then I really thought about it and said to myself that I really do check my email often. It's almost that time of year when the flowers start to appear and we start to make our gardens look beautiful again. It is almost 70 degrees here in NC, and it is hard to believe that just a few days ago we got 2" of snow and they closed the school for the day. Well in a few days my daughter will be 9 years old, its hard to believe that 9 years have gone so fast. Anyway I am in the process of getting her birthday party together. I have been receiving greeting cards for her in the mail and have put them away until her birthday. That reminds me that I have to get her a birthday card.

Sometimes I find it hard these days to find a good greeting card for any occasion. I personally prefer it when my kids make me cards, it just makes the card so much more personal. I love to read what they have to say and see their beautiful drawings. One thing that I can't stand is when you get a card from someone and all they put is your name and from or love at the bottom. They don't add any personal words nothing. I find that to be disrespectful in some sense, my other half does not see it that way. That is the great debate.

The new thing now is personal greeting cards that you can order online. You can add your own text, sometimes a photo and the company will print the card and send it for you. Have you heard of companies like that? I know a few people who rep for companies like these. Its not a bad idea. It can save you the trip to the Post Office or you don't have to stand in a store and read a thousand cards to find the right one. What do you think?

In about 2 months my parents, aunt and grandma will be moving to NC. My family and I are so excited I just can't wait and my children are besides themselves. My family has decided to try something new, instead of renting a moving truck and driving it over 600 miles, they decided to rent some moving pods . That's right they rented some pods, these pods are like mini storage buildings. What happens is you call a company like you Upack and they come and bring you a pod they have different sizes depending upon how much stuff you have. Anyway you pack your boxes and then you pack them in these storage containers or pods, then the company comes and picks them up and delivers them to your destination. You don't have to worry about driving a truck or paying for moving people. My dad said he saved a lot of money doing it this way.

Barack Obama Inauguration

Only a few more days until Obama is sworn in as the 44Th president of the United States. I really feel sorry for him as he is going to have a tons of problems to deal with. When I was looking up information about Tuesday I came across this website http://inaugural.senate.gov/2009 it has a lot of cool information and facts that anybody would enjoy reading and learning about. Also I find this to be so amazing how all this is going to happen during the year of Lincoln's 200Th birthday. I can't wait to see how this is all going to play out. Carolina Panthers and New York Giants both lose

I truly can not believe that both teams lost this past weekend. The Panthers got their butts whipped and the Giants oh lord what happen to my Giants. It was so disappointing, but hey at least they won last year and got this far! I guess you can't win them all. The Panthers were undefeated at home and then got their booty's smacked by Arizona. It was a really pathetic game. I blame the quarterback and the coach they were both horrible. I have never seen so many interceptions in one game in my life. I tell you one thing they better get their acts together next year!

Healthy Fellow

If you are looking for a good health blog check out Healthy Fellow, this is a pretty good blog and I really enjoyed reading it. Healthy Fellow also does movie reviews, gives you cool recipes and more. What I thought was really cool was the fact you can change the background of this blog and I loved that.

I liked the post about Three Reasons to Get More Sleep, very informative. I truly believe that if you don't get enough sleep you can't function. What I didn't know that there was an association between inadequate sleep and a higher risk of arterial calcium deposits, that was something I learned from reading his blog.

Overall I really found a lot of great information from this blog and have bookmarked it so I can keep up with the Healthy Fellow.

Jett Travolta son of John Travolta dead at 16

When I heard this I was so sad for the family. I think it is sad when any family loses a loved one especially a child, but when it's someone famous it seems like every thinks it's even more tragic. I was reading the latest news on the story and some say that Jett may have died in his father's arms. Some say he was autistic and he had a seizure, fell and hit his head on the bathtub. They are suppose to do an autopsy to see what the cause of death really was. There are many things that don't make sense though, in terms of the health of the boy. And they say because John and his wife are scientologist there maybe factors that contributed to his death. For example scientologist don't believe in autism. They say that's why he may not have been treated for it, although the Travolta's deny he had it. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

What stimulus check?

How many people actually got the first stimulus check the government issued the first time years ago? No one really knows? How people actually got the stimulus check this year? No one really knows either. The government and the media make it seem like a really big deal or giving our Americans this money will really help everyone out, well that is a load of bull. Because what the government or the media doesn't tell you is that if you owe the government, student loans, child support etc.... You will never see that money, that's right.

They make such a big deal about giving this money, yet millions of people never saw that money. Why because somebody else took it. And did this money help the economy no, it just helped the debt collectors who made sure they swooped down and seized the money. And now they are saying that they might do it again when Barack Obama goes into office. Well how many people will not see that money again. Its like if you are due a tax refund, but owe money you will not see that refund because they will off set it.

If the government really wanted to help us they would put a hands off order on these checks and make sure it truly goes to its citizens, they should also do this with tax refunds, because the checks don't do anything for a family if they are never going to see it!

Barack Obama The first Black or Bi-Racial President?

I think that it is cool that we will have a President of "color", but what I question is the fact that every ones use the term "The First Black President". Yes he is black, but he is half black and half white. What happened to his mother? Saying he is the first black president is like saying that his mother does not exist. That's why I have taught my kids to say he is the first bi-racial president.
I just don't feel its right when we don't acknowledge someones background. My children are bi-racial and for years when I had to fill out forms for them it would ask are you black, white, Latino, Asian etc... There was never a space for other, mixed race etc... So I had to invent my own space and say they have black and half Spanish. I could not believe that they would make you pick one race over the other, its like you are denying one parent.

Finally the schools started adding mixed race as a choice and then asking you what the races are. Some people feel it may not be a big deal, but I bet you many people never thought about it either. Remeber it takes 2 to make a baby and if those 2 people are of different races then it should be acknowledge, and we should teach our children to celebrate it if they are mixed or not mixed.

Why bailout all of these companies?

I just think that it is wrong that the government is bailing out all of these companies, who got themselves in trouble in the first place. If they could afford to pay all this money to all these executives then they can afford to get themselves out of trouble! Then what makes it even worse is that these same companies that are crying and begging for money from the government are taking the money to throw parties and pay these executives millions of dollars. Not only are they taking the government's money and blowing it they are blowing our money and the government it's doing anything about it.

How dare they cry broke, when they really aren't it, how dare they fire all these employee's and say that have to do it there is no money, but yet they pay themselves millions of dollars extra on top of their own pay and say they are due the money because it's in the contract. I truly feel that I should run for president, because I would straighten a lot of these companies out! People are suffering and these executives are living the life of luxury.

What the government should of done was take that 700 billion dollars and divide it by every single American and then give to the Americans. That would of fixed the economy, not waste our money and give it to these greedy companies to blow it and still leave our economy in a state that it is in!

California Could Issue IOU's

I could not believe it when I heard the news today, the state of California could actually issue iou's to its vendors that they owe money to. I actually had to rewind it on my DVR to see if I was hearing things. But I was hearing this correctly, they said that they are a week away from issuing iou's and if this goes through IOU's to vendors could come in March. I had a sicken feeling when I heard this. California said that they could run out of money in February.

You know why I got a sicken feeling, well I will tell you. It makes me sick to my stomach to see the government do what ever they want with our money and not give a hoot about it. Let that be you or I that owes the government, you know what would happen? That's right they would seize your assets, your house, car and anything of yours that they could get their hands on. But when they owe you money all you will get is oh we are sorry we ran out of money and now you are going to have to wait to see if you will get paid.

Do these high officials do that with their own paychecks? Do they wait and see if they are going to pay themselves? No! They make sure they get paid, so why can't they make sure that their state employees will get paid. I just find that the government just waste millions of dollars let me correct that trillions of dollars with no regard. It's really sad and there is nothing we can do about it!

People say that you can change things, by voting for other people. But does that truly work? Have you seen a difference? I mean this is getting ridiculous and that is putting it nicely. what you think about the government and the way things are going? Do you think it's right that they can owe you money,but you can't owe them?

debt collection

We all know about debt collection agencies, what do you think about them? Many people don't think highly of them at all, why because they have a bad rap. They have a reputation of being rude and not caring about the people they are trying to collect their debt from. They have the reputation of calling everyday and all hours of the day. But I must say not every debt collection company is like that. For example I had a company call my house everyday and leave a message for a guy named Tom. There is nobody by that name in my household. I have had my phone number for about 3 years now, so apparately this Tom either had my number or made up a phone number and it so happened to be mine. Anyway finally I was home when they called and I answered the phone, and the lady nicely said can she speak to Tom, so I preceeded to tell her that you guys call everyday leaving a message for this Tom there is no one here with that name, and I told her that I had this number for a long time. She nicely told me she was sorry they had been bothering me and that they would rem

Christmas is coming

Christmas is only days away, and I have been really busy trying to get ready for it. I stood up late last night wrapping presents and I am still not done yet. I hoping to be done tonight once the kids are in bed. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when they open up their presents Christmas morning. xbox 360

I have been seeing the xbox 360 for less then $200. I even saw some merchants giving free games or bundled items with the systems. I just don't understand why they can drop the price on the xbox 360, but they can't do it for the Nintendo wii. I guess they don't have to since the wii's are flying off the shelves. I remember when the xbox 360 came out it was not cheap, now it's cheaper then a wii. Maybe the popularity has dropped off on the xbox or maybe Microsoft is trying to compete with the wii now and they are trying to get more sales. For those of you who own one or the other, or if you actually played both systems which one do you think is better and why?

The Upgrade

For a while I was thinking about changing my current computer and making it faster, one of the first things I was going to do was to do a memory upgrade, then I was going to change the monitor etc.. But after much thought I decided to just get another computer. So I got a laptop instead of upgrading my desktop. But if this is not in your budget then the best thing and least expensive is to upgrade the memory, you can also change your monitor to a flat screen if you don't have one. This can really save you some money and you can almost have a brand new computer. You can also make sure you clean out files and programs you don't need, to help your computer run faster. You can do this very easily and you can find out how to do this by doing a search on the Internet. Look up your computer's model and you can find a step by step guide, as well as merchants that sell the parts that you need.
